With the holidays quickly approaching, here are some tips for salons and spas alike to prepare for the season!

- Post to Social Media: Create a festive banner image for your business pages and use holiday themed frames for the pictures you upload to Facebook and Instagram. (Here are some apps we like for Apple and Android.) Also, let ProSolutions create a FREE custom holiday video for you to share across all platforms to spread the cheer! Just ask!
- Update Your Online Listings: Make sure to set your holiday hours-of-operation on websites such as Yelp! and Google Business so customers aren’t caught off guard by early closures or dark days.
- Record A New Voicemail Message: Updating your salon or spa’s voicemail greeting to account for special holiday hours or closed business days is important. Use a cheery voice to let your customers know about your holiday schedule and don’t forget to direct them to your website or social media pages to book their appointments online!
- Setup A Holiday Drawing: December is a great time to do an annual “Enter to Win” contest. Think of a fun give away gift that will promote cheer and, most importantly, require that all entrants provide you with an email address. This is a great way to start the new year with quality leads for your 2020 marketing campaigns!
- Have A Cancellation Policy: The holidays can be chaotic for schedules. To stay on track and avoid as many last-minute surprises as possible, make sure you have a No-Show / Late Cancellation policy in place and listed on your online booking page. Also consider requiring clients to enter a credit card when they book so you get paid for your time if they cancel late or don’t show up.
- Create Service Packages: Try to increase the average spending per client with holiday service packages and add-ons. Use holiday themed names for your packages and make sure to let clients know the package is only available during the holidays to encourage them to buy now!
- Sell Retail: Market your products as “stocking stuffers” or “the perfect gift” and try bundling products together in baskets with festive bows. These little tricks help your busy clients accomplish some holiday shopping while being pampered.
- Offer Holiday Treats: Like wine and champagne, offering a cozy seasonal beverage or treat is something that costs little, yet means a lot. Consider offering seasonal drink options like hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick or hot cocoa with marshmallows. If this isn’t your style, consider offering some Christmas cookies and lighting a gingerbread candle for that home-baked smell!
- Say Thank You: Lastly, take time to let your clients know how much you appreciate them. Consider sending holiday cards with a personal signature to your loyal clients, or send an email and offer a small complimentary add-on service to show your appreciation.
